I WAS PROTECTING ILLEGAL MINERS (GALAMSEYERS) DURING NDC ERA, NDC CONSTITUENCY CHAIRMAN CONFIRMS.
The Constituency Chairman of the opposition NDC in Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency, Mr. Michael Gbedemah has confirmed he was protecting illegal miners, popularly known as galamseyers during the NDC era.
The constituency was being interviewed on sensational morning show, Filla on Bogoso based Trinity FM today, over an allegations circulating on social media that the Chairman actually involved himself in illegal mining and supported illegal miners who eventually muddied the Ankobra river.
“What I was doing is that, I was protecting galamseyers, so that the Military men will not come and touch them” he stated. Mr. Gbedemah stated that politicians used their pen to steal, so he was also making sure those illegal miners are protected to make their daily bread.
Mr. Gbedemah, however specified that, the kind of galamseyers he was protecting were the traditional pick-axe and shovel type, popularly known as “stones”.
The NDC party in the constituency has descended heavily over the government fight against illegal mining especially in water bodies, as their serial callers, communicators and constituency executives have lashed the ruling government since it took plans to address the issues in the small scale mining sector.
Various callers on the Filla show lashed the Constituency Chairman who appeared to be cursing the social media reports, even though he stated that he was protecting a group of illegal miners.
